The collection of scattered, glass pieces symbolizing the end of her suffering marriage, the English singer-songwriter collapses the periphery of her age during the album’s dark hours, 30. The story is dedicated as a love letter to her son, furnishing needed closure, security, and apology for pain the deep-cutting marriage reciprocated.

Adele's Most Vulnerable Album

“I’ll be taking flowers to the cemetery of my heart”

Adele sings at the opening of the gentle, but firm debut track, “Strangers by Nature.” Like a finger prick, Adele tampers her heart and lets the blood pour. “Maybe I just had to get it out of my system,” she tells Apple Music's, Zane Lowe. And she did, making ‘30’ not only her most vulnerable record but a favorite by critics.

Movements of Authenticity and Heartbreak

The emotions flowed through, ‘30’,' spotlighting her dark dealings of unauthorized alterations; an interference of emptiness causing damage to Adele, her marriage, and her young son, Angelo. He told her,

"You’re basically a ghost. You might as well not be here.”

Fascinated by Judy Garland, Adele devours authentic, enriching cadences, harmonies, and melodies alongside Swedish composer, Ludwig Goransson.

She practiced vulnerability throughout tracking the album documenting raw voice memos exposing her fragile mentality, specifically for, “My Little Love” empathizing with others enduring divorce, heartbreak, and desperation.

Wine Glass of Wishes

Like a storm, the sun seeps through the clouds once the thunder throws its strike. Fostering anticipation, frustration, and spite but with wishful outcomes, Adele tosses a whistled sparkling hook in “Can I Get It.”

Baking her tune with sweet bitterness, she offers augmented resolution in “I Drink Wine." The soul singer addresses in stripped-down honesty,

“Why am I obsessing about the things I can’t control? Why am I seeking approval from people I don’t even know? In these crazy times, I hope I can find something I can cling to. Cause I need some substance in my life. Something real, something that feels true.”

Listening to each track flow by was humbling. In the ‘30’ world, you could invite any stranger into your home and feel like you’ve known them your whole life - as if they belonged with you.

It Is Finished

“Hold On” is the captivating centerpiece of the album, chanting a ballad of

“Hold on. You are still strong. Love will soon come. Just hold on.”

She expels tight, rustic R&B harmonies in “Cry Your Heart Out” colliding downwards a chromatic jazzy stairwell. She lives, learns, and dwells in the lessons of love with a timely string section confessing, “All of your expectations of my love are impossible” in “Love is a Game.”

A month before release, Adele showcases an intimate glimpse of her outcry decorating luxury, soul, and chic vocal trills with “Easy on Me” as the sovereign of the album, ‘30."

The world is in awe as she declares, “It is finished.”
